Champagne and More Oregon Pinot Noir Values

1) Ployez-Jacquemart Champagne ”Extra Quality Brut” NV $44.99
At their best, Ployez-Jacquemart’s champagnes blend a richness and breadth of flavor with a quiet, filigreed elegance. As a rule, dosage is very low here, generally between four to six grams per liter for most of the cuvées. Yet perhaps due to their delicacy and lightness, the wines sometimes feel like they are dosed at a higher level than that, but these are rarely austere champagnes, rather they emphasize harmony and finesse.2) Ployez-Jacquemart

Champagne ”Passion” NV $54.99

3) Ployez-Jacquemart
Champagne Rosé $54.99

4) Elk Cove 2009 “La Sirene” WV Oregon Pinot Noir $14.50
Great Value!
5) Terrapin WV Oregon Pinot Noir $17.99

Bubbles and Claret!

Every year, as Christmas Eve approaches I start to think about all things English. Maybe it’s because I lived there for a brief time when I was a kid, maybe it’s because I’m a huge fan of everything from Blackadder and Rumpole of the Bailey to James Bond and the Avengers. Regardless, visions of roast beef and Yorkshire pudding dance through my head this time of year which also means things like champagne and all things made with traditional Bordeaux grapes are soon to follow. If you join us this Friday evening there will be bubbles and wines made with Cabernet Sauvignon. There will be no charge for this tasting.

6-9 pm, free.

Vino

Barolo, Brunello, and oh so much more,
Suddenly your brother-in-law, seems not such a bore.
So make your plans now, relief is in sight,
Escape from reality, with this lovely flight….

* 2009 COLOSI Rosso Sicilia (Sicily) $10.95
* 2008 FATTORIA CABANON “Augurio” (Lombardia) $15.95
* 2005 UGO LEQUIO “Gallina” Barbera d’Alba (Piedmont) $16.95
* 2008 BISCEGLIA Aglianico del Vulture (Campania) $15.95
* 2009 CAMPOGIOVANNI Rosso di Montalcino (Tuscany) $19.95

And then there is more, that you have to explore…
* 2008 VAONA Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore (Veneto) $22.95
* 2003 CAPRILI Brunello di Montalcino (Tuscany) $36.95
* 2003 ELIO GRASSO Barolo (Piedmont) $46.95
…called by the Wine Advocate in their rave review “… an elegant, perfumed wine that flows seamlessly onto the palate with remarkable length and purity.” I would agree!

Enough creative writing for now. The usual cut to the chase applies with the first five wines for $10, and the very worthy bonus pours for just a bit more. We will be here to entertain and enlighten from 4:30-8:00, so please stop by when you can. Bring those pre-holiday treats, the friends and family you just can’t live without, and we’ll very much hope to see you here!

4:30-8 pm, fee.
